The Druid

The Druid (Hierophant)

No 5 in the major Arcana and the 16th branch in the Cabalistic tree of life, The Druid is better known as The Hierophant in the traditional RWS deck. 

First piece of art to be produced for The Celtic Tarot which will keep me gainfully occupied until the end of 2016. This will be published by Llewellyn Worldwide in the latter half of 2017. One down seventy-seven to go. 

Pesky journal does not want to work for me to be able post anything so I will put this here and probably have to repeat myself on each image for a while until Deviant Art stops working for me as I have an old computer which will not run a current browser much to Deviant's annoyance. At that point, I will have to stop posting.   

A few months ago, I began the preliminary work on what will be close to a three year project which will pretty much take up all my creative time and output. Finally contracts have been signed by all parties definitively confirming this will go ahead; meaning it is finally time to talk about it and begin releasing some of the images to give an idea of what is coming. Admittedly not until the second half of 2017. By which time I will have produced 78 paintings for the publishers Llewellyn and I will be the illustrator of a Tarot deck.

This is a joint effort. I am working in conjunction the the author Kristoffer Hughes. For the foreseeable future, my output will be dedicated in visually realising his concepts. And they are great concepts. When I read the proposal when first approached to do this, I was hooked. This will really be the summation of the last twenty years work: putting all the different skills I have built up over that time together. It is going to be hell of a journey which I am really looking forward to.
