Description
Normally this shot would have been impossible to take and look like this. The water in the foreground is floodwater. On most days it's a field. All the reflections and mist would be absent. More than that, I'd set set the camera roughly for the exposure I wanted as I could not look through the viewfinder directly at the sun and do not have live view on my dslr; so could not be sure if I were in focus or even what the camera was looking at to compose the shot. I noticed the person walking their dog leaving the field opposite and knew I had one chance. Holding the camera at waist height, I pointed it in what hoped was the right direction and took the shot. Sometimes when you only have one chance which seems pretty unlikely to had a good outcome, you just have to give it a go and see what happens. You never know it might just work.
