Artist's Comments
This is one of two paintings that I have produced for the Extraordinary Butterfly Contest by chasing-butterflies.
Digital painting done with Painter IX. I produced a pencil drawing which I scanned in and used as a template to paint the image from. Reference for this painting is from the stock of Elandria. I also used my butterfly book for the butterflies which are female Clouded Yellows and a book on woodlands for the Stag beetles and ladybird.
The full title for this pic is "The Enigma of Reality." Which is a bit of a mouthful so Enigma will do. I was thinking about how we perceive things and is what we see the same as what other people see? That kind of thing.

I use Painters oil brushes a lot and like the way they give me a painterly feel.
